Artificial Nails
Question 20 - Are artificial nails allowed? What is the rule for wudhu with artificial nails?
Answer: Artificial nails are not allowed if they prevent water from reaching the skin or the real nails. The wudhu and ghusl of a person wearing such nails are not valid. The artificial nails must be taken off. If it is extremely hard or impossible to do so, obligatory precaution must be practiced and both tayammum and wudhu ul-jabirah must be performed. Following obligatory precaution, the obligatory salaats offered during this period must be offered again once the nails are taken off.
